Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi originates from Hawai‘i, where it developed as a holistic body–mind practice within traditional healing systems.

It works with the whole person — body, breath, rhythm, and presence — recognising that physical tension and emotional holding are often connected.

In modern practice, it is valued for its continuous, flowing strokes and its ability to support relaxation and integration without force.

At its core, Lomi Lomi is defined by rhythm, continuity, and connection, rather than isolated or mechanical movements.

How this is used at Solace

At Solace, Lomi Lomi is used in a grounded, nervous-system–led way.

Sessions incorporate long, flowing strokes that move across the body with rhythm and continuity, often using forearms as well as hands. Touch remains fluid, supporting a sense of whole-body awareness rather than working in fragments.

The focus is not intensity or performance, but steadiness, presence, and responsiveness. Techniques are adapted in real time, guided by breath, tissue response, and nervous-system state.

Lomi Lomi is offered with respect for its origins, within a professional, consent-led treatment environment.

What this may support

Lomi Lomi may feel supportive if you are experiencing:

~ a sense of disconnection from the body

~ stress, mental busyness, or nervous-system overload

~ difficulty settling into rest

~ a preference for fluid, full-body work over targeted treatment

Experiences vary, and sessions are always adapted to comfort and consent on the day.

What this is not

This is not a corrective or remedial technique.

It is not used to force release, work through pain, or override the body’s signals. While pressure may be firm, the emphasis remains on rhythm, continuity, and safety.

If something is not appropriate on the day, it is adjusted or not used.

How this appears in sessions

Lomi Lomi may be incorporated within a longer, integrative treatment, or used where a flowing, full-body approach is most appropriate.

You don’t need to request specific techniques. Sessions are practitioner-led, with choices made based on what best supports regulation and ease.
